Thanks, Sonny, Joan, Cindy, Don and Austin!
I began as a small
child following my Daddy and Uncles on those old-fashioned quail hunts that some
of you remember. We could take two or three good meat dogs and find 15 to 20
coveys of bobwhites in a good days hunt. We would always take enough birds to
feed several families a delicious bird supper. Do you remember the hot biscuits,
rice, sorghum syrup and hot boiled coffee that made the birds taste even better?
It was a meal fit for a King!
When I was nine years old, I decided that I
wanted my own bird dog puppy. I sold ten hens and a rooster my grandmother had
given me to buy my first pup. I picked a rip-rap female out of the litter and
named her Jill. I continued to love the sport of Quail Hunting for the remainder
of my life. Then in the early 90's the quail began to disappear from the
landscape. It finally became impossible to train young dogs and to enjoy
hunting, as we had always known it. We, like almost everyone else, finally gave
up our beloved sport.
We want you to thoroughly enjoy the hunting of
the"PRINCE OF THE GAMEBIRDS", the Bobwhite
Quail. We want you to enjoy hunting in a wide range of natural
cover. We want you, your children, your grandchildren and your friends to
experience the benefits of time together with a good dog, a fast covey rise, and
quail gravy. We will do our best to provide you that opportunity. Come on down
to Quail Valley and let's go "Bird Huntin". We look forward to meeting and
getting to know you!
